Govt. Industrial Training Institute Sunni, District Shimla was established in the year 2013 vide Govt. Notification No. EDN (TE) A(1)19 / 2012 dated 02-07-2013.  Two trades viz. MMV & Electrician with Two units of each sanctioned from the session Aug. 2013 vide Govt. Notification No. EDN (TE) A (1)19 /2012 dated 02-07-2013.  Thereafter One Trade i.e. Fashion Design & Technology with two units was started vide Govt. Notification No. EDN (TE) A(1)19 / 2012 dated 22-01-2015.
